Cancale has seen its prosperity grow since the eleventh century thanks to cod fishing,
fishing for wild flat oysters aboard the famous Bisquines, finally the cultivation of hollow oysters
which today occupies an essential place in the landscape and the local economy.
Classified as a remarkable city of taste, this Breton village offers very good restaurants for all budgets and appetites,
ranging from simple traditional creperie to Michelin-starred gourmet restaurants.

Beautiful beaches adorn the coastline between Cancale and Saint-Malo, the closest to which is port-Briac at 800 meters.

The GR 34 hiking trail, which crisscrosses all of Brittany, passes 200 meters from the houses.
The Pointe du Grouin in Cancale, with its ancient semaphore, offers a breathtaking view
on the bay of St-Malo and that of Cancale.
It is from this promontory that the start of the famous Route du Rhum is given every 4 years!
St-Malo, for her part, distinguished herself with her great voyageurs (Jacques Cartier, discoverer of Quebec, René Duguay-Trouin and Robert Surcouf, both privateers of the Kings of France), the triangular trade with the West Indies and the cod fishery in Newfoundland. Today, rich in a maritime past still present in the walls of the old town, St-Malo hosts the Route du Rhum every 4 years, mythical sailing race to the West Indies. The start of the last edition took place in November 2018, remember to book one of our houses to be in the front row during the November 2022 edition: the starting line is in Cancale, at the Pointe du Grouin, a few steps from our 3 cottages!
A small city of character, Dinan has been a river port and an attractive shopping centre since the Middle Ages. Its preserved historic center makes it an exotic family destination. Don’t miss the biennial Fête des Remparts and its costumed inhabitants, the horse jousting and the bear showmen. The next party is scheduled for July 2023!
Finally, the Mont Saint-Michel which raises its Wonder above the sands in metallic colors is well worth the detour: imposing abbey built to be stunned on a rock isolated 1000 years ago, it defies time and the elements and offers us every hour of the day a changing postcard from the point of view of the sea 200 meters from the houses.
